These roles offer deeper engagement and the chance to contribute to the strategic direction of TPTS. They’re perfect for members who want to build leadership experience and collaborate with colleagues on meaningful initiatives.
Committees
Committee appointments provide a unique opportunity for pharmacy technician members to build their networks, expand their leadership experience, and actively contribute to the advancement of pharmacy technician practice. Each committee focuses on a specific area of strategic importance and is charged with developing resources, offering guidance, and contributing to advocacy efforts. Members serve one-year terms and are selected through a formal application process, with opportunities to reapply annually from December to February.
Board of Directors
The TPTS Board of Directors is the governing authority of TPTS. It safeguards the association’s success by cooperatively developing goals as well as policies in support of those goals. Nominations are typically accepted from October through February.

As a TPTS member, you can also engage with ASHP’s national leadership and advisory bodies. These roles allow you to represent pharmacy technicians and contribute to policy, education, and strategic planning.
ASHP Section Advisory Groups
ASHP Section Advisory Group appointments provide a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues, enhance leadership skills, and actively contribute to the advancement of pharmacy practice. Each section is focused on a strategic area of practice and is tasked with creating resources, offering expert guidance, and supporting advocacy initiatives. Members serve one-year terms and are selected through a formal application, with opportunities to reapply annually. The application period typically runs from February to May.
ASHP Councils
ASHP’s five councils are the primary bodies responsible for initiating policies on professional issues. Each council includes a designated pharmacy technician member, ensuring that diverse perspectives are represented in the policy development process. Council recommendations are reviewed by the ASHP Board of Directors and ultimately acted upon by the ASHP House of Delegates. Council members are selected through a formal application process and serve one-year terms, with the opportunity to reapply annually for up to three years of service. The application period typically runs from September to November.

ASHP Commission on Affiliate Relations
The ASHP Commission on Affiliate Relations advises the ASHP Board of Directors on standards for affiliation, implementation of those standards, and strategies to strengthen and build affiliate relationships that support ASHP’s mission. The commission includes one pharmacy technician member. Commission members are selected through a formal application process and serve one-year terms, with the opportunity to reapply annually for up to three years of service. The application period typically runs from September to November.
ASHP/ACPE Pharmacy Technician Accreditation Commission
The Pharmacy Technician Accreditation Commission advises the ASHP and Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) boards on the development and implementation of accreditation standards that ensure consistent, high-quality education and training for pharmacy technicians. Responsibilities include attending biannual meetings, preparation and participation in accreditation surveys, and contributing to commission projects. Applications are accepted annually from September to November.
ASHP Meetings and Conferences
