Why did you become a pharmacy technician?
I became a pharmacy technician in 2010. At that time, I wanted to be part of the growing healthcare field.
How long have you been practicing?
Fourteen years.
What are you most proud of in your professional career?
I am proud of the difference I make as a pharmacy technician in the oncology field. I have been a lead technician for four years and have made a strong, positive impact on the division.
What is your most memorable experience as a pharmacy technician?
My most memorable experience involves my oncology team and the first day in our new compounding space. Due to a delay, our new cleanroom suite still needed certification on the morning of opening day. Thankfully, our older biological safety cabinet (BSC) was still operational at our previous location. As a team, we had to run back and forth to compound medications needed for patients. It was a crazy morning, but with our teamwork, we made it through and delivered safe patient care!
Why did you become certified?
I became certified to better myself.
What career advice do you have for others interested in becoming a Pharmacy Technician?
Go into this field with a team-focused mentality. Don’t sell yourself short. Becoming a pharmacy technician is an extremely important job!
