Why did you become a pharmacy technician?
I became a pharmacy technician to learn more about the healthcare industry. Growing up, I always had an interest in helping others and serving the community. Becoming a pharmacy technician was the start of a career that would fulfill those passions.

What are you most proud of in your professional career?
I am beyond proud of where I have come in my career. I have been through many changes in my career, both professionally and personally. I am now in a role that allows me to oversee other technicians and our technician workflow as a whole. I am proud that my skill and knowledge as a pharmacy technician allowed me to get to this level, and I am now able to help other pharmacy technicians improve and develop themselves.
What is your most memorable experience as a pharmacy technician?
My most memorable experience would be when the pharmacy I am at now opened. We started in a small room out of a doctor's clinic filling about 25 prescriptions a month. After a year of growth, we moved into our own building in March of 2020. Even though it was right when COVID-19 happened, we were able to continue our growth in people and business. Now we have almost tripled our staff and increased our monthly script count to around 2,000. We are now able to service so many patients with specialized diseases, and it is beyond rewarding.
Why did you become certified?
I became certified to put my pharmacy technician knowledge to the test. I wanted to prove to myself that I was capable of advancing in my career.
What career advice do you have for others interested in becoming a Pharmacy Technician?
My advice would be to explore all areas of pharmacy. Do not be afraid of change or learning something new! Pharmacy is an extremely vast area with lots of different opportunities for pharmacy technicians. Do not stop looking until you find what fulfills you!
