Reason for Becoming a Pharmacy Technician
I am a natural servant leader, and I found a profession where I can apply my analytical and scientific thinking mindset. By combining my love to serve my community with my skill sets, I have found my calling in being a pharmacy technician!

What are you most proud of in your professional career?
So many wins over the years! I am most proud to have been elevated to the network pharmacy team at my organization. Our team oversees and supports 11 acute care pharmacies, 10 ambulatory care pharmacies, 4 retail pharmacies, 2 home infusion pharmacies, 1 long-term care pharmacy, 7 oncology infusion pharmacies (with 3 more on the way) and a specialty pharmacy. I am proud to be part of this innovative team.
What is your most memorable experience as a pharmacy technician?
I would have to say it was my entire experience being part of the COVID-19 response team at my organization. We responded to first and second waves, never turning away a patient and always having the medications needed for their therapies. We also rolled out the first vaccines in the state of New Jersey — a great experience. We navigated the requirements to receive, store, transfer, and document all vaccine administrations. At our height, my team supported 8 vaccine administration sites, totaling over 8,000 appointments a day and over 600,000 doses given the first year.
Why did you become certified?
I wanted to be more technical and specialized in my field. Gaining assessment-based certification culminating in my advanced designation keeps me up to date on technician practices.
What career advice do you have for others interested in becoming a Pharmacy Technician?
There’s no better time than now! Technicians have more opportunity to grow professionally than ever. Advanced roles for technicians are growing, and we need passionate people to join the workforce.
