Why did you become a pharmacy technician?
I became a pharmacy technician because they are the backbone of the pharmacy. I wanted to be part of a team that helps patients achieve optimal health by adhering to their medication regimens. My original goal was to become a pharmacist, but I took a different path — advocating for pharmacy technician development.

What are you most proud of in your professional career?
Starting a pharmacy technician training program at Mount Sinai with a 100% success rate and making a significant impact in the lives of people across New York State.
What is your most memorable experience as a pharmacy technician?
Collaborating with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) on the job analysis panel and serving as a mentor to new and prospective pharmacy technicians.
Why did you become certified?
I became certified in 2015 because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in patient care and be an integral part of the healthcare team. I knew that with certification I would be better equipped to assist pharmacists and ultimately improve patient care and medication safety.
What career advice do you have for others interested in becoming a Pharmacy Technician?
Pharmacy technician roles are evolving, so always continue to learn and ask questions. Seek pharmacy leaders interested in the vision and advancement of pharmacy technicians. You are more than "just a tech". You are part of the healthcare team.
