Why did you become a pharmacy technician?

I became a pharmacy technician because I wanted to work in the medical field helping others in our community.

How long have you been practicing?

I have been working as a pharmacy technician for almost 14 years, in nuclear, community, and inpatient settings.

What are you most proud of in your professional career?

I am most proud of my continued growth as a pharmacy technician, and the opportunities to participate in professional organizations such as TPTS.

What is your most memorable experience as a pharmacy technician?

For background, I currently work in our operating room (OR) satellite pharmacy. My most memorable experience is knowing that a STAT compounded medication that I made for a high-risk operation may have saved a life.

Why did you become certified?

To educate myself, and to advocate for technicians to be seen as an integral part of the healthcare system.

What career advice do you have for others interested in becoming a Pharmacy Technician?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. The more you learn, the more you'll grow. Another thing is that there are many types of settings you can work in. If you feel your current work situation isn't the right fit, search for a different one, as there are many opportunities out there for technicians.
