Why did you become a pharmacy technician?

To help people during the pandemic from 2020 on, and just in general now that I'm in the hospital setting.

How long have you been practicing?

Five years between community, home health infusion, and inpatient hospital.

What are you most proud of in your professional career?

After passing our Joint Commission inspection with flying colors, my dream of creating the USP coordinator position blossomed into fruition. This position coordinates between USP 795, 797, and 800 to make sure all of the testing, surface sampling, and compliance in general is followed. We were told by the Joint Commission to get this job out there to help other facilities like ours.

What is your most memorable experience as a pharmacy technician?

Reframing a hospital's compounding setup from the ground up to help efficacy, and patient safety.

Why did you become certified?

To have a better understanding of the medications and processes of making them.

What career advice do you have for others interested in becoming a Pharmacy Technician?

Never stop learning. Community is not the end. There are so many other avenues for technicians.
