Why did you become a pharmacy technician?
My aspiration to pursue a career in healthcare was greatly influenced by my mother’s encouragement and support. Her guidance has been a driving force behind my decision to enter this field.
How long have you been practicing?
Over 30 years. I started out as a clerk typist in a hospital pharmacy.
What are you most proud of in your professional career?
Reflecting on my journey, I’m amazed by the progress I’ve made since my early days in the pharmacy. Achieving my current role has been a longstanding ambition, and it’s incredibly rewarding to assist our customers, knowing that each interaction contributes positively to the well-being of our patients.
What is your most memorable experience as a pharmacy technician?
Witnessing the integration of automation within our pharmacy has been a transformative experience. The way it has revolutionized our operations, enhanced patient safety, and streamlined medication management is remarkable. I find it truly inspiring to have contributed to the significant advancements we’ve achieved.
Why did you become certified?
I knew it would play a pivotal role in my salary and allow advancement opportunities.
What career advice do you have for others interested in becoming a Pharmacy Technician?
Education! Begin by enrolling in an accredited training program or find out what opportunities there are. Certification is almost required nowadays. Networking, resume, and interview skills are assets.
