Reason for Becoming a Pharmacy Technician

I am a natural "servant leader," and I found a profession where I can apply my analytical and scientific thinking mindset. By combining my love to serve my community with my skill sets, I have found my calling in being a pharmacy technician!

How long have you been practicing?

I have been practicing for 20 years at the same organization I began at!

What are you most proud of in your professional career?

It is hard to say just one thing! But most recently, I can say that being promoted to the Network Pharmacy Team at my organization is something I am truly proud of. I am the only technician on the team, so being a voice for all technicians in my organization is something I take very seriously.

What is your most memorable experience as a pharmacy technician?

Navigating COVID-19. My hospital was ground zero in the nation for the first surge. Being on the team that went to war with the virus is something I will never forget. I am proud of our pharmacy and the response efforts to combat COVID-19. We saved countless lives.

Why did you become certified?

I am passionate about professional growth. Becoming certified, at the time, was the next step in my growth in my field. I also was one of the first technicians in New Jersey to receive the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) CPhT-Adv credential!

What career advice do you have for others interested in becoming a Pharmacy Technician?

Do it! The role of the pharmacy technician has evolved tremendously over the time that I have been practicing! There are so many unique career paths a pharmacy technician can take. It truly is a great career.
